Enchanted by Murano Glass: My Journey from Wonder to Sparkles Online

As a young girl I once saw my aunt with a beautiful bracelet. My attention was drawn to that one piece of jewelry. With large, smooth glass beads, in a deep blue color that sparkled with every movement. I was enchanted. How could something be so beautiful?

Later I learned that this was Murano glass, from a small island near Venice where craftsmen have been creating glass masterpieces for centuries. Fascinated, I went looking for shops that sold these beautiful pieces of jewelry. But I found nothing. There was no internet yet and my search came to a halt. Murano glass slowly faded into the background of my thoughts, while life went on.

Until I got to Rome. In a tiny shop, hidden in a narrow street, I saw them again: those beautiful, smooth glass beads. Not only bracelets, but also earrings and necklaces in the most breathtaking colors. My heart skipped a beat. There, among those jewels, an idea was born: if no one sold this in the Netherlands, I would do it myself. And that's how Sparkles Online was born.

I still often rub the glass. It feels almost soft, almost silky. That is the magic of Murano glass. The colors are intense, vibrant and each bead is unique. None are perfectly round, because everything is made by hand. It is precisely that imperfection that makes it so special.

Today I import these enchanting jewels directly from the workshops of Corte Murrina, on the island of Murano in Venice. I want to show the world how beautiful and unique these jewels are. What started with a single bracelet from my aunt, grew into a passion that I want to share with everyone.
